From start, both SCE and full engine building was going to plan. Now, the DAF developments have gone into a crucial phase with Multi-Cylinder Engine Testing and validation taking place. The conclusions so far are that with high efficiency turbo, significant fuel reductions can be achieved (>2 g/kWh).
Further results, related to fuels (HVO) are:
Results without re-optimizing settings for HVO have delivered a reduction in EO smoke at low NOx, minor improvements in BTE at low NOx, lower EO NOx for equal settings and, at high NOx, no significant improvements.
Re-optimizing for HVO does not result in significant different settings and not in better BTE.
For higher compression ratio slightly better performance results.
